Poems from Around the World

Featured Poem

Which path will you choose?

Life can hold many paths,
All the paths go to different
Destinations, but how do you
Know which to choose? One
Path is full of light, but with many
Obstacles ahead because of what
You believe, and the other path is
Dark and full of vanity and lust.
How do you know which to choose?
Humans mourn in the middle of
The night or even lock themselves up
In a dark lonely room because they are
Too afraid to face the world, wishing
That there would just be one path
That leads to true happiness.
But in reality we will always come
Across stumbling blocks along our
Journey that keep us from moving
Forward. But all those blocks that
Were in your way will give you
The strength and courage you need
To face further obstacles. Once you have
Overcome all those obstacles and fears, you
Will feel accomplished because everything
You went through led you to the destination
God has mapped out, and when everything is
Done you will thank God that he was the light
That guided you through your tough journey. Because
If you had chosen the dark path full of vanity and
Lust, your reward would have been diseases, Depression and loss of hope.
So now which path will You choose?

About us

Poems for Peace is a poetry exchange between youth worldwide. Cross-cultural connections are established through the sharing of ideas, hopes, fears and dreams, weaving a strong and colorful tapestry of peace.

Mission

Provide an opportunity for people to discover similarities, embrace differences, develop compassion and foster forgiveness.

Transcend racial, religious, socio-economic, physical and intellectual prejudice and unite on a deeper and more meaningful level.

Inspire curiosity about different cultures, lifestyles and modes of thinking. Ignorance breeds prejudice, apathy and fear; knowledge breeds compassion. When we know, we care.

Poetry Defined

We define poetry as any written expression that conveys a heartfelt truth. It may be a traditional poem, a story, prayer or work of art with commentary.

Theme of the Month

"I have a dream. . ."
Martin Luther King planted a seed of hope in a world of racial injustice. He allowed his mind to dream of the possible in a world that insisted in the impossible. Every outcome is preceded by a thought. A dream is not just a whimsical mind game but a first step to change. Share your dream of a peaceful world. How does that world look, sound and feel? What are the components that create that world?
